Evaluation Process

Articles submitted to the NİYAZ Journal of Alevism-Bektashism Studies are initially reviewed by the editor to assess their alignment with the journal’s scope, publication principles, and ethics, as well as their scientific quality, originality, and overall content and structure. During this stage, the editor may seek input from the Editorial Board. The editor conducts the preliminary review, assigns reviewers, and makes publication decisions based on the reviewers’ evaluations.

Following the editorial review, similarity checks and plagiarism screenings are conducted. Articles that fail to pass the plagiarism check will be rejected. If plagiarism is detected after publication, the article will be retracted, and an "Editor's Note" will be published in the journal to inform readers of the issue.

Articles that pass the preliminary review will be assigned a reviewer from the relevant field. Articles deemed unsuitable during the review process will be rejected by the editor, and the authors will be informed accordingly. To prevent conflicts of interest, the identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential.

Reviewers evaluate the full text of the article, which does not include any identifying information about the author(s). Each reviewer is responsible for completing the Reviewer Evaluation Form and conducting their assessment according to the criteria outlined in the form. Reviewers are expected to submit their evaluations (reject, accept, revise, or major revision) within the designated timeframe to the editor.

A double-blind peer review system is used in the evaluation of articles submitted to the journal. Two reviewers, who are experts in the subject matter of the article, are assigned to evaluate its suitability for publication. Reviewers' suggestions for changes to the article are documented in the relevant form template. Reviewers may choose to accept the article with no or minor revisions, request major revisions and a resubmission, or reject the article outright. Authors must revise their articles according to the reviewers’ recommendations.

For articles requiring minor revisions, the changes will be reviewed by the section editors before publication. If major revisions are required, the author must make the necessary changes, and the article will be reassessed by the section editor and sent back to the reviewers for further evaluation. Authors must document the changes made in response to reviewer feedback on the Reviewer Response Form and upload it to DergiPark. If the revisions are deemed satisfactory by the reviewers, the article will be accepted for publication. Articles that receive negative feedback from the reviewers will not be published. Based on the reports from two reviewers, the Editorial Board may decide to reject the article outright or send it to additional reviewers. This decision is based on the quality and content of the reviewers' reports.

Authors of articles requiring revisions must make the necessary changes and upload the final version to the system within the specified time. Articles that are not revised and resubmitted within the given timeframe may be rejected by the editor.

Authors must consider the criticisms, suggestions, and corrections provided by the Editorial Board, but they also have the right to explain their reasons for disagreeing with certain points.

Authors have the right to withdraw their article. If authors wish to withdraw their article for any reason, they may request to do so via the Article Withdrawal Form.

Publication Process

The NİYAZ Journal of Alevism-Bektashism Studies is published twice a year, in April and October. Special issues may be published as decided by the Editorial Board. The journal is distributed within one month of publication to libraries and institutions affiliated with the Ministry, to the authors whose articles are published in the issue, and to the reviewers who have contributed to the journal process. The journal has no subscription system.

Once the minimum number of articles is reached, submitted articles are queued and sent to the authors for final proofreading and approval before publication. Articles that have completed the submission process and moved to the layout stage two months before the publication date will be published in the same issue. The standard deadlines for this process are 1 February for the April issue and 1 August for the October issue. Articles entering the layout stage after these dates will be queued for publication in the following issue, unless the minimum number of articles is not met.
